Through the research I get, I find the meaning of the word “Transform.” The definition of Transform is restructuring a product’s surface, but the essence remains the same. In addition, it can also be a gradual transforming process, transitioning and reorganizing a thing into another.

When I heard the word “Transform,” It reminds me of the large transformer I saw in an exhibition. Also, it reminds me the transformation process for the transformer. My own thought to the word “transform” is to redefine an object.
Tommy Williams has once said in the interview, the main concept of “Scythe” is “Create the civilization with the most storied history, starting at the beginning of humankind and reaching into the future. The paths you choose will vary greatly from real-world events or people—your civilization is unique!“
“Blue Reflection” review from player “The story at the heart of it all is one of the most moving and heartfelt tales I’ve ever seen in a game, and that’s a huge achievement. The best part is that Mel Kishida is just getting started—if this is his directorial debut, I can’t wait to see what the future has in store. “

Jamey Stegmaier, the designer of the game “Scythe” once said “Scythe is heavily inspired by Terra Mystica, which as of now has been #1 on my list of favourite games for quite a while,” in the interview.

After enjoying the three online game galleries, I got many ideas and inspirations. The three museums are “Creative Uncut Video Game Art Gallery,” “Stonemaier Games Art Gallery” and “Adam Devine Video Game Art.” These three game collection exhibitions have their own different collection characteristics.
In “Creative Uncut Video Game Art Gallery,” the main collection is about various type of character concept paintings. There are about 55000 game works are summarized in this game exhibition, these concept arts are sorted by the first letter of the game name. In this exhibition, the most memorable game artwork for me is Melkishida’s “Blue Reflection.” In this game exhibition, the game characters are presented in the form of anime. I saw many other types of game character display methods, which are different from character display methods, which are different from the usual game presenting format. For instance, the usual way to present a game includes front view, side view and back view. But this art collection also includes some character hairstyles, clothing, posing and variety of game environment sources. These display methods have given me some new inspiration for expression the new gaming characters.
The second game pavilion I visited is “Stonemaier Games Art Gallery.” This game art gallery is very different from the first one. It mainly displays the props and models from the different board games. In this game exhibition, it describes the game background information of each exhibit, its origins and the game props component. For example, Jamey Stegmaier and Alexander Schmidt’s board game “Red Rising” has many kinds of boards game props displayed inside, including all kinds of cards with text explanations, fantasy game backgrounds, colourful tokens, dice with multi- faceted graphics, digital templates and a notebook for recording the game process. “It is a hand-management, combo-building game.” Says by Pierce Brown. In addition, I also found some interesting interviews and reviews about these games. In the video interview “Roll for Crit” (rules and review) it says that: “Red Rising is a satisfying and well executed hand management game that puts the series’ extensive cast to good use with over 100 character cards and nearly endless potential combos.” Scythe is also one of the interesting board game I found in the Stonemaier Games Art Gallery. In Compare to “Red Rising”, “Stonemaier” is more complex. This is a multiplayer board game, allows 1-5 players to play in the meantime. The background of the game is taking place from the 1920s, it draws the war of old Europe. Each player represents a leader of these countries. They have to lead their soldier to fight and win the final honour. The game composed of 154 cards and props. The Player controls the total role of the game, every step the player take can lead the game ends in a different path.

“Adam Devine Video Game Art” is the last collection exhibition I have been visited to. The game collection in this art gallery is very similar to the first game museum I have visited. It also includes the drawings of the characters. In addition, the difference is that this collection also uses the production method of water frame to show some 3D character models. This art gallery describes the way of transforming an idea into a real object. What makes me think more about the digital game is that it uses pictures to show the process of building and colouring some characters.
As a result, these three game museums exhibited the knowledge about board game props, 3D models, and game character design piece.
The Group members in our group include Jia Wei, Ayla Hajizada and me. For the short-term discussing in our group, we have discussed the design area we are going to learn next year. The softwires and media we been used to create demonstration project and collection project, also, we have discussed what type of final outcome it used to be.
My groupmate Jia Wei wants to study animation next year, so she creates two animation for her two projects. She uses photoshop to realize her game concept. Ayla Hajizada wants to study game design for next year and she choose procreate photoshop to create her game concept for demonstration project and she uses hand working materials and workshop methods to create a boardgame for her collection project. At last, I used 3D modeling in Maya to create an augmented reality game for my final outcome of collection game and also, I have also inspired by the workshop experience and I used graphic media to show my item of collection. I have used some game rules description and hand drawing in photoshop to show my game concept for demonstration project.
Through this group discussion, I saw not only my own but also other student’s production plans and solutions for the similar design type. It also reminds me of the connection between the design we have down so far and the design area we choose for next year.
Individual and collection have different meanings in game. Individual game usually represent most of the game with a single character. The category of collective game composed of multiple items. These two types of game will bring different visual effects and feeling to the players.
The Individual game in most of the time is simple and colourless. Compared with collective game, it lacks a lot of detail. This monotonous environment will make the player feel lonely and fear of the unknown.
“Limbo” is a good example of individual game. It makes the player feel lonely and scared during the game.
An Individual game can sometimes provide a new game experience.
In the game “Limbo”, there is no more extra characters, and the player has to face all the unknown adventure by themselves.
This is a screenshot from game Limbo, it shows the player is facing some danger elements in the game by themselves.
When you are in the individual game, you will be more integrated into the scene provided by the game. You will feel the realism of the game.
Compared with individual game, Collectible games is more colourful and rich. It will bring the player a very bright and sense of warm.
This is the collection game of Onmyoji, a Japanese style of Card game.
The Collection game contains many elements than the individual game.
Each character in the game has their relationship between each other. The Colours in the game Onmyoji is change all the time and provides a warm and peaceful gaming experience to the player.
Cards collection is one category of the collective game. The character on cards have text or colour sorting and own background.
Example from Onmyoji, each card is related and revolves by around the theme.
